Hello

Hello
Im new to this and dont know what to say or go about it but il dive right in.

My names ben hense my user name and im 25, i was diagnosed with a melignant melanoma back on the 8th of january of this year.
I had a biopsy and had it removed and went back to the hospital being ignorant thinking that everything was going to come back negative and that there was going to be nothing more for me to do and let me go back to work etc, But my ignorance came back to bite me in the arse.

I was told and shocked, i was told 5 times by the doctor before it even took recognition in my brain and was trying to understand what and how bad things where, to be honest i felt like i was in a bad dream and wanted someone to wake me up.

I am currently waiting for an opperation to have a wider area of my shoulder to be taken off and also my lymph nodes to be cut off and tested for cancerous cells, im due in london at the royal london next month, and my family and girlfriend have given me reassurance i still feel that im alone in this and dont know what to do or what im going in for.

Im sorry for blabbering on but just wanted someone to talk to who has been through the same thing or can just help in some way.

Thanks for listening and reading this post,

Ben.

Wanted to welcome you to the site, I know this must all be very devasting, but you are young and it seems like your physicians are aggressively fighting this, so stay positive. I am sure through the site you will meet others that have been through similar experiences, but for now, focus on the next step and try your best not to jump to the worst case scenario.

Sending positive thoughts your way-
CK

Stay positive. I was like you had amole removed on my leg last july. I was not too concerned thought it would be removed and that would be that. Was called in to the Drs three weeks later to be told it was melanoma. First diagnosis from family Dr scared the crap out of me, i pulled over to the side of the road and cried, melanoma pretty scarry. Catscans were done and there was also a lump found under my arm and there were small spots on my liver. My mind was spinning thinking oh my God it has spread. Long story shorter next tests showed melanoma lookedit was on borderline of beingdeep. My surgeon suggesred togo in cutbigger piece and take lymph nodes to be sure it had not spread. For me there was only one choice so i did not continue to wory. Had the surgery reslts came back greatand just got my last catscan to say lump under arm fine and spots on liver finetoo! The cancer centre said goodbyeto me and now my dermatologist sees me every 3months for the next 2years. This cancer was just i think a wake up call, appreciate everyting and look after yourself. I think even in the short time of my dagnoses I am stronger for it and whatever comesin the future i will fight it and so will u!
